Introduction:

A desert is a barren land where there is no or very less precipitation and thus making it difficult for life existence.

Deserts are formed by due to large variations in the temperatures that puts strain on the rocks. We rarely see rains in the desert landscape, but if there is a rainfall it results in flush floods.

Deserts are usually dry with low amounts of precipitation, with the low plantation. They have high temperatures in the morning and they fall extremely down in the night.

Where the desert land is not protected by the plantation, natural events like sand and dust storms.

Deserts cover up to one third of the earth’s surface.

There are many types of deserts, some of them have dunes and some of them are completely barren lacking lustre of sand.

In this video, we show creating a desert model using very simple materials that are easily available.

       A. There are basically four types of deserts, they are, subtropical deserts, coastal deserts, cold winter deserts and polar deserts.

       2. What are the features of a desert?

       A. Deserts receive very low level of rainfall every year. Typical hot deserts have high temperatures, more evaporation than precipitation, strong winds, low humidity and variations in precipitation.

       3. Explain about the flora, fauna and water content in the desert?

       A. Flora in the deserts are such that, they survive with limited water supply. Fauna includes different types of insects and animals that very well know how to survive without water or with very less water. The types of plant that grows in the deserts are succulent plants.

       4. Explain the farming in deserts?

       A. Desert farming is the way to develop agriculture in the deserts. Agriculture in its sense, requires adequate amount of water supply, which lacks in the deserts. Methods like water reuse, desalination and drip irrigation are used in desert farming.

Deserts play a very important role in human culture because of its uses along with increasing technological advancements.

Deserts today are seen as one of the important sources for solar energy. There are many power plants that are been built over in the deserts now. Warfare in the desert provided scope to large spaces or areas without having to distract because of the civilians.

Recently, studies have suggested that there is a desert on the planet Mars. The Martian deserts are identified to contain dunes in the form of half moon.
