how to connect 3 LEDs in parallel with a 9V battery, switch, and resistors

Here’s a simple step-by-step guide to connect 3 LEDs in parallel with a 9V battery, switch, and resistors

You Will Need:

  • 3 × LEDs (3V, 20mA standard)
  • 3 × Resistors (330Ω recommended)
  • 1 × 9V Battery
  • 1 × 9V Battery Clip
  • 1 × SPST Switch

Circuit Overview:

Each LED gets:

  • One resistor
  • Parallel wiring: all LEDs share the same positive and negative power rails

Video Steps on Connection :

1. Connect the Switch:

  • Connect one terminal of the switch to the +ve terminal of the 9V battery clip.
  • The other switch terminal will go to the common +ve rail feeding all 3 LEDs.

2. Add Resistors to LEDs:

  • For each LED, connect a 330Ω resistor to the anode (+ long leg) of the LED.
  • Connect the other end of the resistor to the +ve rail coming from the switch.

3. Complete the LED Circuit:

  • Connect the cathode (– short leg) of each LED to the common ground rail.
  • Finally, connect the –ve terminal of the 9V battery to this common ground.

When the switch is ON, all 3 LEDs glow equally

You can add more LEDs by following the same pattern (each with its own resistor)
