Introduction:

Air pump was invented by Robert Boyle and Robert Hooke. It is a pump that is installed in bicycles, aquarium, gas compressor, air horn and vacuum cleaner to pump air.

The common mechanism that goes into an air pump is that a part of the air is pushed that creates vacuum which is filled up more air.

It is basically used to push air. Air pump in different tools and equipment work exactly the same way except for very minute differences.

There are two categories of air pump, they are diaphragm pumps and reciprocating pumps. There is a difference in the way these two types of pumps work and are installed in different machines and used for different purposes.

       A. Air pump is used in different machines for the purpose of pushing air. For example, it is used in an aquarium for diffusing oxygen into the water not only on the surface of the water. In bicycles and other vehicles, it is used to fill up air in the inflated tyres.

       A. Air pump has a piston and two valves. One of the valves connects to the vehicle to which the air has to be filled and the other valve takes air from outside. So, when the pump is pulled up, the pressure decreases pulling air from the outside and when the pump is pushed down the air is pushed into the tyre of the vehicle.
