In this project, we will create a simple 3D hologram projector using cardboard, transparent plastic paper, and a mobile phone. This model will demonstrate the concept of creating three-dimensional images using a pyramid-shaped structure and a specially designed video.
- Transparent plastic sheet (clear plastic or CD jewel case cover)
- Mobile phone
- Pen or pencil
- Craft knife or scissors
- Adhesive (glue or double-sided tape)
- Preparing the Base:
- Cut a square piece of cardboard for the base of the hologram projector.
- Place the mobile phone on the base and mark its outline.
- Creating the Pyramid Structure:
- Measure and cut four cardboard triangles with equal sides. These triangles will form the pyramid sides.
- Attach the triangles to each side of the outlined square on the base. The triangles should slant upwards, meeting at a point.
- Assembling the Transparent Top:
- Cut a square piece of the transparent plastic sheet that matches the size of the top of the pyramid.
- Attach the transparent plastic sheet to the top of the pyramid structure using adhesive. This forms the top surface of the hologram projector.
- Creating the Hologram Video:
- Search for 3D hologram videos on platforms like YouTube. These videos are specifically designed to create the illusion of a 3D image when projected through the pyramid structure.
- Playing the Hologram Video:
- Place your mobile phone in the center of the pyramid structure, with the screen facing upwards.
- Start playing the chosen 3D hologram video on your mobile phone.
Demonstrating the 3D Hologram:
- As the hologram video plays on your mobile phone, the light from the screen is reflected and refracted by the pyramid structure, creating the illusion of a three-dimensional image floating above the projector.
By building the 3D hologram projector working model, you’ve demonstrated how a pyramid-shaped structure can be used to create a captivating illusion of three-dimensional images. This project showcases the concept of holography and how it can be applied in simple DIY projects.
