How to Make Types of Angles Working Model – Step-by-Step Guide

In this video, you will learn how to make a Types of Angles Working Model for Maths Exhibition.
This is an easy and creative DIY model that explains Acute Angle, Right Angle, Obtuse Angle, Straight Angle, Reflex Angle, and Full Angle using a rotating protractor system.

Materials Required

  • Cardboard sheet (large for base + stand)
  • White chart paper
  • Blue/black craft paper for borders
  • Mini printed protractors (or draw them)
  • Black drinking straws / black chart paper rolls (for angle arms)
  • Colored paper for fan decoration (red, blue, green, yellow, orange)
  • Paper fasteners (split pins)
  • Fevicol / glue gun
  • Scissors, cutter, scale, pencil
  • Sketch pens (black, blue, red)

Step-by-Step Instructions

STEP 1: Prepare the Main Board

  1. Cut a large rectangular cardboard piece (approx. 45 cm × 35 cm).
  2. Cover it neatly with white chart paper.
  3. Add a blue craft-paper border around all four sides.

STEP 2: Divide the Board into 6 Sections

You need sections for:

  1. Acute angle
  2. Right angle
  3. Obtuse angle
  4. Straight angle
  5. Reflex angle
  6. Full angle
  • Draw equal-sized rectangular boxes (3 rows × 2 columns).
  • Outline using a black marker for neatness.

STEP 3: Add Protractors in Each Box

  1. Print or draw small semicircle protractors.
  2. Stick one protractor inside each section at the bottom.
  3. Mark center point using a sketch pen.

STEP 4: Make Angle Arms (Pointers)

  1. Take black drinking straws / rolled chart paper sticks.
  2. Cut into two sizes: long and short.
  3. Attach them using paper fasteners at the center of each protractor.
  4. Ensure the arms can rotate freely to show different angles.

STEP 5: Make Colored Angle Fan Decorations

  1. Use small square colored papers (6–7 cm).
  2. Fold in accordion (fan) style.
  3. Pinch one end and glue to form a fan shape.
  4. Stick one fan in each section using different colors:
    • Yellow → Right angle
    • Pink → Acute angle
    • Blue → Obtuse angle
    • Green → Straight angle
    • Red → Reflex angle
    • Orange → Full angle

This gives each angle type a colorful visual identity.

STEP 6: Label Each Angle Type

Use bold letters:

  • ACUTE ANGLE (< 90°)
  • RIGHT ANGLE (90°)
  • OBTUSE ANGLE (90° < 180°)
  • STRAIGHT ANGLE (180°)
  • REFLEX ANGLE (> 180°)
  • FULL ANGLE (360°)

Write on the top of each section.

STEP 7: Make the Rotating Side Angle Wheels

  1. Take circular cardboard pieces (8–10 cm diameter).
  2. Glue a printed protractor on each.
  3. Attach two straw arms with a paper fastener in the center.
  4. Stick these wheels on the left and right sides of the main board.

These rotating wheels help students practice angle measurement.

STEP 8: Prepare the Base Stand

  1. Take a rectangular cardboard box (25–30 cm long).
  2. Cover with black and blue craft paper.
  3. Stick a white label: TYPES OF ANGLES
  4. Attach the main board vertically to the base using glue gun + extra cardboard supports behind.

STEP 9: Final Touch

  • Outline borders with black marker.
  • Add decorations if needed.
  • Test all angle arms—they should rotate smoothly.
