how to make Biogas Plant Working Model

Welcome to this DIY Science Project on how to make a Biogas Plant Working Model that shows how organic waste can be converted into renewable energy and electricity!

In this video, we demonstrate a miniature biogas plant setup that produces biogas from kitchen waste and cow dung, and shows how that gas can be used to generate electricity by running a small turbine or LED setup.

What You’ll Learn:

  • How biogas is formed from anaerobic decomposition of organic matter
  • How methane gas can be used as renewable fuel
  • How biogas energy can be converted to electricity using a turbine or generator model
  • Step-by-step process of building a working model for science exhibitions

HOW IT WORKS

  1. Organic waste and water are mixed in the digester tank.
  2. Anaerobic bacteria break down the waste in the absence of oxygen.
  3. This process releases biogas (mainly methane) which collects in the gas chamber.
  4. The gas passes through a pipe to a mini turbine, generating electricity that lights an LED bulb.
  5. The leftover slurry can be used as organic fertilizer — making this model eco-friendly and sustainable.
