1. Materials Required:

  • Cardboard (for structure body)
  • 2 × 12V PC Fans
  • 12V DC Adapter (to power the fans)
  • Small Water Pump (optional but great for demonstration)
  • Sponge / Wet Cotton Pad
  • Plastic Tray (to hold water)
  • Wires, Switch (optional)
  • Glue, Tape, Scissors, Cutter

2. How It Works – Simple Principle:

Basic Idea:
Air cooler works by blowing air through a wet surface → Evaporative cooling effect lowers air temperature.

  • PC Fans blow air → Passes through a wet sponge → Cooled air comes out → Feels like air conditioning at a small scale.

3. Step-by-Step Assembly:

Structure Design:

  1. Make a box using cardboard (approx. 30 cm × 30 cm × 30 cm).
  2. Cut two square holes on opposite sides of the box:
    • Inlet Side → Install 1 × 12V PC Fan (intake fan).
    • Outlet Side → Install 1 × 12V PC Fan (exhaust fan).

Water & Cooling Setup:

  1. Inside the box, fix a wet sponge or wet cotton pads near the inlet fan.
  2. Below the sponge, place a plastic tray to hold water → Keep sponge soaked.
    • Optional: Install a small submersible water pump to circulate water and keep sponge constantly wet.

Electrical Connection:

  1. Connect both 12V PC Fans to the 12V DC Adapter in parallel.
    • (+) Adapter → Fans (+)
    • (–) Adapter → Fans (–)
  2. Add a switch in between for turning on/off.
  3. For the pump, either use a separate power supply or same 12V adapter (if sufficient capacity).

4. Working Principle Demonstration:

  • When powered ON:
    Air flows in from the intake fan → Passes through wet sponge → Evaporative cooling lowers air temperature → Cooler air comes out through the outlet fan.
  • Show thermometer before and after cooling to show small temperature drop (e.g., 3–5°C depending on ambient conditions).
  • Optional: Show how water level is maintained (use pump or manual wetting).
