Plant life cycle model for school science exhibition for students

INTRODUCTION

In this topic, we are going to show you how to build the plant life cycle model for your science project or exhibitions. This project is very useful for kindergarten kids and school students.

Plant life cycle stages

Plants are living , reproduce and grow like other living beings.

They follow a life cycle which starts with a new life, growing and finally coming back to the starting stage.

How a seed grows into a plant

The life cycle of plant beings with a seed. The seed will sprout over a period of time and become into tiny immature plant know as a seedling.

The seedling grows to form a mature plant. This newly grown mature plant, in turn, will reproduce by generating seeds which will start the whole new cycle again.

This life cycle is followed by flowering plants like grass, trees, shrubs, and flowers.

However, there are other types of plants which do not produce seeds like ferns and mosses.

They produce other type of reproductive cells called as spores.

Flowers consist of male and female structure which helps in production of seeds.

5 stages of the plant life cycle

1.Seed:

They are like babies in plants. It contains embryo of the plants with necessary food and an outer coating for protection.

Dispersion of seeds takes place through many ways like air, river, and animals and through humans.

2.Germination and seedling:

When soil conditions are good the seed will germinate. It breaks outer coating and beings to grow its roots and leaves.

First form of life from seed comes out of soil it is termed as seedling.

3.Growing to maturity:

Seedling will grow to maturity using nutrients from soil. Once matured they will produce flowers and seeds.

4.Flowering, pollinating and seeding:

When plants mature they grow flowers and pollen. These pollens reach ovary of the flower where it gets fertilized inside it and result in production of seeds.

5.Repeating the cycle:

This newly produced seeds gets dispersed through air, water or humans and develop into a new plant.

Step By Step Video on Plant Life Cycle Model

In this video, we will show you the following steps and items that can be used to plant life cycle model at home by taking help freely from your parents.

Materials Used to Make Plant Life Cycle Model

Questions & Answers on Plant Life Cycle Model

  1. What are the 3 life cycles of a plant?
The life cycle of the plant consists of haploid, diploid and finally haploid-diploid.
  2. Why is the plant life cycle important?
The plant life cycle is important because it helps in the reproduction of new plants from seeds. When the life cycle of plant ends it dies and it becomes nutrients for the dirt and future plants.
  3. What is the life cycle of plants and animals?
Both plants and animals have their own life cycle however there life cycles are the same in that they begin with birth and end with death.
  4. What are the 5 stages of the plant life cycle?
Five stages of the plant life cycle are seed, germination, growth, reproduction, and pollination.
  5. What is the plant life cycle called?
Mostly all plants follow both: haploid and diploid generations.

Conclusions

The plant life cycle is very important since it helps in the generation of new plants from seeds.

Here students understand various stages that take place from the new seed to reach a mature tree by taking up this science project
